Chaiyaphum's Natural Wonders
Pack your hiking boots—you're going to need them!
Wander Through Pa Hin Ngam National Park
This is the superstar of Chaiyaphum. The name translates to "Forest of Beautiful Stones," and it doesn't disappoint. Here you'll find the famous Siam Tulip Fields (Dok Krachiao), which bloom spectacularly from June to August, creating a pink-purple carpet across the meadows. The park also features a bizarre rock garden with formations shaped like mushrooms, castles, and even a football World Cup trophy!
Test Your Nerve at Sai Thong National Park
Not to be outdone, Sai Thong also has its own stunning Siam Tulip fields. But its real claim to fame is Pha Hum Hod, a narrow stone ledge jutting out from a sheer cliff face. The name literally means "Shrinking Scrotum Cliff" (we're not kidding!), and it's a thrilling, knee-wobbling photo op for the brave. The views are absolutely worth the adrenaline rush.
Discover Thailand's Stonehenge at Mor Hin Khao
Prepare to be mystified. Mor Hin Khao is an archaeological site featuring five groups of gigantic, ancient stone megaliths scattered across a field. The main cluster, with its towering 12-metre-high stones, is believed to be around 175-195 million years old. It’s an incredibly atmospheric and strange place, especially at sunrise or sunset.
Chase Waterfalls at Tat Ton National Park
Just a short drive from Chaiyaphum town, Tat Ton is home to one of Thailand's most beautiful waterfalls. During the rainy season (May to October), the falls expand to a stunningly wide, powerful curtain of water cascading over a rock plateau. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic and a refreshing dip.
How to Get There
Chaiyaphum does not have an airport or a train station. The most straightforward way to get there is by bus from Bangkok's Mo Chit station or from nearby cities like Nakhon Ratchasima (Khorat).
To truly experience the province's scattered national parks, renting a car is the best way to go. This will give you the flexibility to explore all the incredible natural sights at your own pace.
